Nickel REACH Consortia

Purpose
The Nickel REACH Consortia:
- are voluntary initiative from the Nickel Industry aiming for anticipating REACH obligations.
- are vehicles to facilitate the information exchange which Downstream Users.
- provide cost-efficient management in the implementation of REACH.
Scope
- Ni metals and nickel inorganic compounds
- REACH obligations include:
- Registration (data sharing, data gathering and testing proposal; compilation of the Technical dossier and of the Chemical Safety Report for common uses , proposal for a harmonized classification for each substance;
- The follow up during the (eventual) evaluation phase;
- Some of the updating requirements under REACH (to be specified by the Nickel REACH Consortia Steering Team.)
- REACH obligations NOT covered include:
- Pre-registration which needs to be done by each Legal Entity of an EU Company (manufacturer or importer). Guidance on pre-registration will be provided to the members of the Consortia and will be available on the member’s area.
- Submission of the part of the Registration dossier specific to each Legal Entity of a Company.
- Coordination of Legal Entities of a Company.
- Ni materials covered:

Membership
- Regular Members: EU Manufacturers, Importers, non-EU Manufacturers (directly or via his “Only Representative” of Ni and Ni inorganic compounds
- Associate Members: Representative (associations/consortium) of main Downstream Users, National Federation.
